Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery has a commitment to technology that helps bring advanced care to our patients.
Robotic Surgery
Surgeons on the medical staff at Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery have access to the da Vinci® Surgical System*, robotic technology that allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with small incisions and far greater precision.
With da Vinci, small incisions are used to insert miniaturized wristed instruments and a high-definition 3D camera. Seated comfortable at the da Vinci console, the surgeon views a magnified, high-resolution 3D image of the surgical site inside your body. At the same time, the latest robotic and computer technologies scale, filter and seamlessly translate your surgeon's hand movements into precise micro-movements of the da Vinci instruments.
Although it is often called a "robot", the da Vinci Vinci System cannot move or operate on its own - the surgeon is 100% in control. For many, surgery performed using the system has a number of benefits including smaller incisions, less pain, less blood loss, shorter hospital stay, quicker recovery and a faster return to normal activities.
3T MRI
Your physician may suggest an MRI with the 3T technology. The 3T MRI is one of the most powerful and sophisticated MRI scanners currently available. The "T" in 3T MRI stands for Tesla, the unit of measurement of magnetic field strength. 3T systems generate a magnetic field twice as strong as traditional MRI scanners and many times the strength of some open MRI systems. The 3T's stronger magnetic field produces images of exceptional clarity and anatomical detail in less time. At Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery, we offer a wide-bore system to accommodate large patients and patients with claustrophobia.
Nurse White Board System
Our interactive whiteboard system improves patient satisfaction and quality of care by helping not only the patient but their family members see an up-to-date personalized care plan that’s easy to understand. The white board system is used on our inpatient unit and is organized into patient-centered categories such as “My Team” and “Who is Taking Care of Me” with a photo of the caregiver. Outside the room, caregivers have access to the system that enables them to easily update the information.
*All surgery presents risk, including da Vinci Surgery. Results, including cosmetic results, may vary. Serious complications may occur may occur in any surgery, up to and including death. Examples of serious and life-threatening complications, which may require hospitalization, include injury to tissues or organs; bleeding; infection, and internal scarring that can cause long-lasting dysfunction or pain. Temporary pain or nerve injury has been linked to the inverted position often used during abdominal and pelvic surgery. Patients should understand that risks of surgery include potential for human error and potential for equipment failure. Risk specific to minimally invasive surgery may include: a longer operative time; the need to convert the procedure to an open approach; or the need for additional or larger incision sites. Converting the procedure to open could mean a longer operative time, long time under anesthesia, and could lead to increased complications. Research suggests that there may be an increased risk of incision-site hernia with single-incision surgery. Patients who bleed easily, have abnormal blood clotting, are pregnant or morbidly obese are typically not candidates for minimally invasive surgery, including da Vinci Surgery. Other surgical approaches are available. Patients should review the risks associated with all surgical approaches. They should talk to their doctors about their surgical experience and to decide if da Vinci is right for them.
