Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is safe, painless procedure which produces no ionizing radiation. MRI uses two familiar forces, magnetism and radio waves, to produce images of your body organs and tissues.
The hospital offers patients access to our 3T MRI, one of the most powerful and sophisticated MRI scanners currently available. The "T" in 3T MRI stands for Tesla, the unit of measurement of magnetic field strength. 3T systems generate a magnetic field twice as strong as traditional MRI scanners and many times the strength of some open MRI systems. The 3T's stronger magnetic field produces images of exceptional clarity and anatomical detail in less time. At Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery, we offer a wide-bore system to accommodate large patients and patients with claustrophobia.
